Georgios Maris is Associate Professor in Political Economy of International Relations at the University of the Aegean (Department of Mediterranean Studies). He was Lecturer at the University of Neapolis Pafos on European Political Economy and Governance, Visiting Fellow at the Department of Politics and International Relations, Center for International Studies (University of Oxford) and Special Scientist at the Department of Social Sciences and Political Sciences and the Department of Economics (University of Cyprus). His academic research focuses on Political Science, European Studies and Governance, and International and European Political Economy.
He has completed post-doctoral research at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens) and at the Department of Political Science and International Relations (University of the Peloponnese). He received his doctorate in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Peloponnese with excellent. He holds a MA in European Studies from King’s College London, MSc in Political, Economic and International Relations in the Mediterranean from the University of the Aegean and a Bachelor Degree in Public Administration from the Panteion University (Athens).
Georgios has also served as a consultant for the provision of technical assistance to the Greek authorities to support the establishment and implementation of an action plan for an effective SME policy in Greece at the Task Force for Greece (European Commission). Georgios held numerous fellowships and grands, including from the Centre for Hellenic Studies Anniversary Scholarship (Kings College London), and the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (IKY).
