Open Lecture: The role of the European Union Bank for Cyprus within crisis from E. Kavvadia

The Neapolis University in Cyprus organized on December 11, 2013 an interesting lecture on the subject “EUROPEAN INVESTMENT BANK: The role of the European Unions Bank for Cyprus amid crisis” with Speaker Elena Kavvadia, official from the European Investment Bank. Greeting the event was George Leptos, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce in Paphos. The Event was moderated by Professor Konstantinos GIs. Athanasopoulos, Head of Law Program Neapolis University in Cyprus. There was a brief presentation of the European Central Bank, as an EU institution and an analyse was presented as for the structure, purpose and responsibilities for the formulation and implementation of economic and monetary policy in the Union. It was then reported that the global economy has fallen in to the biggest financial and economic crisis since the 30’s, in the last four years. The current crisis broke out in August 2007, with the bursting of the bubble of a segment of US mortgage market, which was accompanied by a housing bubble and then degenerate into global banking crisis causing absolute chaos in international finance. The lecture was followed by a constructive discussion.
