The Graduate students of the Neapolis University in Cyprus, led by Professor Julia Georgi and President of the Department of Architecture and Geo-Environmental Sciences, on Saturday, July 8th at 10.00-12.00, had constructed a Vertical Green Garden at the University Cafeteria where Mrs. Ioanna Panayiotou, Commissioner for the Environment was honored. The infrastructure was provided by Greenway. The construction of a Vertical Green Wall is a new planting method with many advantages.
Thus, for the purposes of the Planting Design course, the students of the Master in Landscape Architecture and with the significant assistance of Nicoletta Siabania, Leptos Group Agriculturist, were informed about this technique, analyzed the proposed location of the site and were divided into groups. They then came up with 3 different proposals that were finally selected. We then combined the proposals and came up with a more economical solution in terms of installation and maintenance.
The implementation of this exercise with students deepens their knowledge of construction, is part of the teaching method called International Design and Build and is an area where students can apply experiments in this field.
