On Friday, 25.09.2020, the 8th Graduation Ceremony of Neapolis University Pafos for the academic year 2019-2020 was conducted online, coinciding with the University’s completion of 10 years of operation, activity and participation in the academic events of Higher Education in the Republic of Cyprus.
The ceremony was addressed by the honourable Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis and the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Nikos Dendias, who stressed the University’s long-standing important contribution to the cohesion of local communities, especially during the pandemic period, the contribution of Neapolis University Pafos to the advancement of higher education in the Republic of Cyprus, and the necessary development of synergies between the Universities of Greece and Cyprus, highlighting “educational diplomacy” as a “soft power” of exercising foreign policy and a comparative advantage for the two countries.
Mr. Christodoulidis also referred to the Government’s satisfaction with the high level and academic excellence of the Higher Education Institutions in the Republic of Cyprus and to the existing Memorandum of Understanding between Neapolis University and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a sample of the joint effort to establish Cyprus as an international and regional centre of Higher Education.
The Vice President of the Institution’s Board of Directors, Mr. Giorgos Leptos, stated that a decade has passed, during which Neapolis University, faithful to the vision of the Founder Michalakis Leptos and its initial strategic planning, committed itself to the local communities to create the conditions required, so that its graduates can utilise all the qualifications, knowledge and capabilities they acquire by contributing to local development and welfare and to the country’s development prospects, while at the same time welcoming new graduates to Neapolis University’s large family of 3.500 alumni.
The Rector Prof. Sklias Pantelis referred to the joint effort of the University’s entire academic community, especially during the pandemic period, and the axes in which it operates, which refer to the continuous upgrade in quality of the study programmes, the strengthening of the learning process, the upgrade of services offered to the student community, the excellence in research – as evidenced by the honorary operation at the Jean Monnet University – to the continuous effort to internationalise and develop synergies with important, international Universities, and finally to the continuous social contribution to local communities.
Neapolis University Pafos creates the background, so that with the cognitive resources, principles and values that graduates acquire during their studies, they can claim and realise all their dreams and expectations.
