The Legal Clinic of the Law School of Neapolis University in Cyprus is a pioneering initiative, offering an extracurricular but primarily scientific activity for the students of the undergraduate law programme. The legal clinic was set up on an experimental basis about a year ago and has since provided specialised legal work on cases involving the defense of Greek Cypriots for human rights violations before the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) in Strasbourg. The Clinic is staffed by a group of 10 students of the University’s Law School, is managed by the Assistant Professor of International Law Mr. Thomas-Nektarios Papanastasiou and collaborates with the law firm “Lellos P. Demetriades Law Office LLC.”, with which it has signed a special Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
The Rector of Neapolis University in Cyprus, Professor Pantelis Sklias, stated:
“It is an innovative initiative with the particularly active participation of the Law School students. The learning process is enriched and our students gain practical experience. At Neapolis University Pafos, we support similar initiatives which constitute our student community an active protagonist. Congratulations to the Director of the Legal Clinic, Assistant Professor Thomas-Nectarios Papanastasiou, as well as to our students. ”
