Maya Kucherskaya

Writer, literary scholar, founder of Russia’s first MA Creative Writing programme at HSE GE. Author of ten books of fiction and non-fiction, over 50 articles on 19th- and 20-th century Russian literature, dozens of reviews of contemporary literature. Her books have been shortlisted for the Yasnaya Polyana Prize (twice, in 2007 and 2021); she won the Bunin Prize for her book The Modern Patericon: A Reader for the Despondent and the Bolshaya Kniga Prize (2021) for her biographical study Nikolai Leskov: The Neglected Genius.
