AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE DOCTORAL STUDIES UNIT

The Doctoral Studies Unit of Neapolis University Paphos aims to enhance academic excellence and promote innovative research at an international level. In order to develop and support high quality PhD students, the Unit provides a dynamic and supportive environment, which encourages collaboration between academics and researchers. Students are given the opportunity to contribute to the international scientific discourse, develop original research ideas and address the challenges of the modern world with creativity and critical thinking.

The aim of the Doctoral Studies Unit at Neapolis University in Paphos is to train tomorrow’s leaders in their field, equipping them with the necessary knowledge, skills and research thinking to advance in their academic and professional careers. Through close collaboration with leading professors and the opportunity to participate in international research networks, PhD students are prepared to develop significant research projects and succeed in their academic careers, with the aim of advancing knowledge and social progress.

THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS OF THE DOCTORAL STUDIES UNIT INCLUDE

  • Design and development of doctoral programs: It defines the structure of the programs, the requirements, and the criteria for enrollment and graduation.
  • Supervision and guidance of doctoral students: It provides support to students throughout their journey to complete their doctoral thesis, through collaboration with supervising professors and other academics.
  • Assessment and monitoring: It monitors students’ progress and evaluates their work at various stages of their doctoral journey.
  • Publications and research: It promotes research and the publication of doctoral work in academic journals or conferences.
  • Educational and academic seminars and conferences: It organizes seminars, conferences, lectures, and other educational activities to develop the research skills of the students.

WHAT DOES THE DOCTORAL STUDIES UNIT OFFER

The Doctoral Studies Unit provides a range of services and opportunities for doctoral students in order to support them in their academic and research journey. The main offerings include:

ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITIONS FOR DOCTORAL CANDIDATES

The Unit of Doctoral Studies of Neapolis University Pafos, announces a limited number of Doctoral Candidate positions for the academic year 2025-2026, which are distributed in the following subjects and more specifically:

  1. Ph.D. in Psychology (Greek – English)
  2. Ph.D. in Modern and Contemporary History (Greek)
  3. Ph.D. in International Relations and Security (English)
  4. Ph.D. in Accounting and Finance in Co-supervision with the University of Western Macedonia (Greek – English)
  5. Ph.D. in Project Management in Co-supervision with the Democritus University of Thrace (Greek – English)
  6. Ph.D. in Business Administration in Co-supervision with the University of Piraeus (Greek – English)

Those interested in writing a PhD thesis are invited to submit an online application with all the required documents, from Monday 24 March 2025 to Friday 30 May 2025.

The required documents are:

  1. Copy of Political Identity Card
  2. Copy of Degree and Analytical Transcript
  3. Copy of the Master’s Degree and Analytical Transcript
  4. Two Letters of Recommendation
  5. English Language Certificate
  6. Research Proposal to include:
    • Maximum 2500 words (including bibliography)
    • Development of a research idea, its objectives and the ways in which the PhD will contribute to the literature
    • Description of the methodology and tools to be used
    • Originality of the research proposal
  7. Expression of Interest (up to 500 words)
  8. Curriculum Vitae
  9. Portfolio: Submission of scientific works or scientific activities demonstrating their capacity for scientific research
  10. Passport size photo

Letters of recommendation should be included in the application along with the other supporting documents or sent directly by the author(s) via e-mail:  [email protected] [email protected] and until the same deadline (30/05/2025, 14:00).

No supporting documents will be accepted after the above deadline.

During the proposal evaluation period, the University may request additional information, clarification, or modification of the proposed research proposal.
