Andria Antoniou
Lecturer of Structural Engineering - Ballistic Engineering
A 4-year (8 semesters/ 240 ECTS) Study Programme taught in English language. Over the four years study students must attend specific compulsory courses providing the basic scientific knowledge, as well as elective courses which offer wider scientific knowledge. The compulsory courses are core Civil Engineering courses and electives are offered in two directions; Structural Engineering and Environmental Engineering.
Programme graduates will become members of the European Federation of Professional Engineers (FEANI).
To better serve China’s strategy of educational opening-up and draw experience of advanced educational ideas, school running ideas, management experience, and talent training modes from the foreign counterpart, under the talent training philosophy of “integrating the foreign and China, learning from each other” and by means of education cooperation, this BSc in Civil Engineering programme aspires to introduce high-quality educational resources from Neapolis University Pafos (NUP) to the Baoding University of Technology(BUT). Through carrying out an international education cooperation at a higher level and with higher quality, this franchise program will lead to a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering awarded by NUP. The minimum length of the programme of studies, which leads to the BSc degree, is 4 years.
Civil Engineers are involved in the preliminary design, planning, supervision and construction of technical works, which are important components for the smooth functioning of modern societies. Roads, dams, tunnels, bridges, highways, airports, railroads, buildings, housing, harbors, jetties, oil platforms, water and wastewater systems all objects of civil engineering. The Franchise BSc in Civil Engineering offered by the Neapolis University in Cyprus is designed to produce graduates who will be able to meet these challenges, building their future on solid foundations. The program offers to each student knowledge and skills so as to enable them, upon completion of their studies, to enter the profession or to begin graduate studies.
The program provides a broad civil engineering curriculum that focuses on fundamental theory, mathematics, science, planning, design and construction. These compulsory courses, along with proper electives, allow students to focus on particular fields of Civil Engineering. Electives on two directions are offered initially, that is in Structural Engineering and Environmental Engineering, while electives on more directions will be offered later, as in Geotechnical Engineering, in Hydraulics, in Coastal Engineering and in Transportation Engineering. Students have the opportunity to design technical projects taking into account factors such as economy, environment, society, politics, ethics, health, safety, and sustainability and to become acquainted with several aspects of professional practice.
The civil engineering profession is very demanding, competitive and rapidly evolving, and yet offers great job opportunities and high salaries. Graduates of Civil Engineers may be employed and to have a career in private construction companies, public or semi-public organizations or to start their own company.
China, being a superpower, under the Belt and Road Initiative is already engaged in huge infrastructure projects worldwide, whereby the professional rights of the Chinese engineers in the host countries have been ensured via bilateral agreements among the PRC and each host country respectively. The same is the case with projects that take place in EU member states, e.g., the case of Greece and the example of COSCO and the provisions under the Piraeus Port Authority (PPA) Concession Agreement.
Thus, the graduates of Programme aim at following a professional pathway under this type of the global involvement of PRC, rather than exercising free lance profession in individual countries.

General Admission Requirements
Students who have passed the undergraduate admission score line of the National College Entrance Examination can be admitted. The National College Entrance Examination (Gaokao) is a standardized test taken by high school students in their final year from June 7th to 9th every year. It covers subjects such as Chinese, mathematics, foreign languages (English only for this program), and a combination of science or humanities subjects (science only for this program), depending on the student’s chosen track. After receiving Gaokao scores, students can apply for the franchise programme based on their eligibility and score ranking. The selection of students is implemented based on the highest scores achieved from the applicants. Once admitted, students will report to the university with their admission notice.
All admissions requirements have been approved by the Neapolis University Pafos.
The University reserves its right to define the electives offered on an academic year basis.
The programme structure may change without prior notice, as a result of quality assurance procedures or/and programme recertification.
