The Neapolis University Pafos, in collaboration with JetBrains, is excited to host the Joint Advanced Student School (JASS ) 2023 for the study of smart context-sensitive traffic control and continuous software evolution technologies for cyber-physical systems in March 2023. This annual international initiative offers students and professors from various countries a unique opportunity to learn and create together in a project-driven software development environment.
JASS 2023 will focus on the challenges of updating software on autonomous agents within a smart city setting where AI technology regulates traffic flow, self-driving cars operate, and smart traffic lights adjust accordingly. The program will utilize the Duckietown model city and its real-life hardware equipment to provide a practical learning experience for students. They will work in Agile mode for a week in international teams of about seven students, supported by professors from leading universities such as the Technical University of Munich, Imperial College London, and Neapolis University Pafos.
The program includes various activities, such as guest lectures and master classes, providing a comprehensive overview of the domain and its challenges and allowing students to comprehend the problems and solutions comprehensively. Moreover, the students will work on projects within their international teams, creating and delivering a finished project by the end of the seven-day event.
The core technologies for the event will be Linux, ROS, Docker/Kubernetes, Matter/Thread, Duckietown, and Python. Participants should be undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate students from universities in Cyprus with solid software engineering and development skills and an interest in new technologies, mobile devices, and the Internet of Things.
The school language will be English, and the Neapolis University Pafos and the Leptos Group at the Coral Beach Hotel & Resort will accommodate all participants. Participation in JASS 2023 is free, and the deadline for submissions is March 10, 2023. Join us for a unique learning experience that will provide hands-on experience with real-world problems and cutting-edge technologies.
