Marios Argyrides, Ph.D., is a Professor of Counselling Psychology and the Head of the Department of Psychology at Neapolis University. He is a licensed psychologist in Cyprus. Dr. Argyrides earned his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Counseling Psychology from Tennessee State University in 2006 and his Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Applied Psychology from the University of South Alabama in 2002.
His professional experience includes internships at various university counseling centers, including those at the University of South Alabama, Tennessee State University, and Vanderbilt University. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at Florida State University. Dr. Argyrides has held academic positions as an instructor at Tennessee State University and as a visiting lecturer at both public and private universities in Cyprus.
Currently, he serves as an Associate Scientist on multiple research teams in the United States and participates in COST and Erasmus+ projects across Europe. He is also the Director of the Eating and Appearance Research Laboratory (EARL) at Neapolis University. Dr. Argyrides has an extensive publication record, including peer-reviewed articles and specialized books, and has presented his research at numerous international conferences. Additionally, he is the Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Counseling Psychology.
Dr. Argyrides is a professional member of the Cyprus Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association. He also serves as the consulting psychologist for MediCleft, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with cleft and craniofacial abnormalities.
