OBJECTIVE OF THE MASTER (MSC) IN INTERNATIONAL SUSTAINABILITY MANAGEMENT

A primary objective of the program of study MSc in “International Sustainability Management”, is to give to the students a holistic appreciation of the sustainability and sustainable oriented problems and challenges that might be faced by a business and the ways that these can be dealt with effectively and in alignment with its strategic goals and objectives. An additional important objective that pertains this program, is the evaluation of the different methodological tools of research as well as the effective communication between different people and departments within an organization, especially when they originate from many and different socio-cultural environments. Essentially, the students will be able to apply everything that they have learned through this programme to their case studies and even more importantly, to their own professional environments.

PROGRAMME LEARNING OUTCOMES

After the completion of the MSc in International Sustainability Management, graduates are expected to be able to:

1. Value the meaning and implications of sustainability and its application for businesses of various industries and sectors within an international context.
2. Assess businesses’ options regarding their strategic choices that emanate from their internal environment and policy making.
3. Use different sources of data (primary, secondary, qualitative, quantitative) to enhance existing knowledge and create new knowledge regarding sustainability.
4. Use leadership and human resource management to help aid solutions to the sustainability-oriented problems and challenges of an international business.
5. Establish and use communication skills as effectively as possible, especially ιn the context of an interdisciplinary and multicultural international business environment.
6. Propose innovative sustainability strategies based on the principles of profit, people and planet, that will make a business as sustainable as possible in the future.

TEACHING, LEARNING AND ASSESSMENT METHODS

The MSc in “International Sustainability Management” is a distance learning programme, offered both for full-time or part-time study. Distance learning is multiform and flexible to enhance the quality of communication between students, teachers and university bodies. The programme runs across three academic semesters and in order to successfully complete their studies, students need to accumulate 90 ECTS. In the first semester, students attend four compulsory courses and in the second semester they attend three compulsory courses and one elective course and each of the courses (compulsory and elective) correspond to 7.5 ECTS. In the third semester, students write their dissertation, which corresponds to 30 ECTS. The programme is offered both in the Greek and the English language.
