Dear students,
Dear graduates,
During the first semester of 2026, the Republic of Cyprus will assume the rotating Presidency of the Council of the EU (for the second time since its accession to the EU).
The assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the EU is an extremely important event for the Member States that assume it, both in terms of the magnitude of the responsibility assumed for the management of European issues, the promotion of EU priorities, and the smooth organization and conduct of various high-level meetings, as well as in terms of the experience and benefits derived from it.
The organization of the Presidency of the Council of the EU is an institutional obligation, while it undertakes various implications, benefits and special importance for the country itself and its inhabitants. At the same time, it is a project of national importance which, in order for Cyprus to be able to carry it out successfully, should seek the widest cooperation of all bodies, public and private, social partners as well as civil bodies.
In this context, the cooperation of the KP Secretariat with educational institutions is aimed at the active voluntary participation of students and graduates of the country’s educational institutions in the handling of basic organizational aspects and, in particular, their involvement in the procedures included in the Liaison Officers Working Group of the Organizational Issues Unit of the KP Secretariat, whose main responsibility is the organization and smooth running of all meetings that will be held in Cyprus during the KP. The meetings on Cyprus are expected to involve thousands of people at various levels, such as Heads of State, Ministers, European Commissioners, European Parliamentarians, representatives, journalists, interpreters.
Our University considers it necessary for everyone to contribute to the complex task of organizing and carrying out the presidency. Therefore, it has graciously accepted the invitation of the Secretariat of the Cyprus University of Technology to invite and encourage students and graduates up to the age of 35 from our university community to register their participation as volunteer Liaison Officers.
