Neapolis University in Cyprus is organizing on its premises from 7th December 2015 until 18th February 2016 an exhibition on Nobel Prize winner and Greek poet and diplomat, George Seferis, on the occasion of sixty years of his collection ” Κύπρον, οὗ μ᾿ ἐθέσπισεν ” issued in December 1955 and forty five years after his death in September 1971.
George Seferis had visited Cyprus on three occasions in 1953, 1954 and 1955, which he loved as a second home country, where he also wrote, “The miracle still works”.
During the exhibition photographs from the world of Cyprus will be on display, which he took during his travels to the island. Photographs and other material from his life and professional career will also be on display, as well as his books, his independent studies of work, photocopies of manuscripts of Cypriot poems, magazines and newspapers of his era.
For the first time, the guest book of The Monastery of Saint Neophytos, which he visited in 1953 and signed, will be presented. Portraits of Seferis by famous Greek painters will be on display, and a series of portraits by the famous Greek painter Yiannis Psihopedis and his study of the poetic compositions of George Seferis’ “Άνθη της Πέτρας”. The exhibition will be inaugurated by the Minister of Education and Culture, Mr. Costas Kadis, on Monday, 7th December at 12 noon.
