The promotion of economic reforms: Barriers and success factors
Professor George Mergos among others indicate that reforms are now the focus of the discussion for the exit from the crisis not only in Greece and Cyprus, but throughout the European Union. A great deal of books are touching the subject of the obstacles and reactions to reforms, and the factors of their success or failure. He also mentioned that there are many examples of successful and failed reforms and should be systematically look at so to learn from this experiences.
It should be borne in mind that the crises faced in various countries have differences in their nature and therefore solutions should take that in account. In some countries the problems was financial and stemmed macroeconomic unbalance, were in others the problem was caused by the banking sector, or even from the markets.
Professor Spyros Makridakis, Rector of the Neapolis University Paphos greeted the lecture.
The lecture was attended by distinguished guests, faculty and students of the University.
