Neapolis University in Cyprus celebrated its 7th graduation ceremony, which took place at the Coral Beach Hotel & Resort in Paphos. The graduates were fortunate to share the culmination of their hard work in front of an audience of over 1200 people which included relatives, friends, academics, and prominent figures from Cyprus and abroad.
In his address, the Chairman of the University’s Council, Mr. Michalakis Leptos, upon congratulating the graduates for their success and conveying his wishes for the best possible career, renewed the University’s long-standing commitment for investment in high quality education and the professional recognition of its graduates. At the same time, he praised the University’s decisive contribution to cultural and social affairs, while he expressed his satisfaction with the signing of new, important partnerships with established universities overseas.
The graduation ceremony was attended by the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mrs. Vasiliki Anastasiadou, the Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos, the President of the Supreme Court, Mr. Myron Nikolatos, the Mayors of Paphos and Polis Chrysochous, politicians, officials and a host of guests.
This graduation ceremony was of particular important, since the first PhD title of the doctoral thesis programme was awarded in collaboration with the University of Peloponnese, thus sealing the University’s primary goal of producing innovative and applied scientific research.
During the ceremony monetary prizes and honours were awarded to the University’s top students, by various social and financial institutions of Cyprus, such as Astro Bank, the Cyprus Architects Association, the Cyprus Computer Society, the Cyprus Psychologists Association, and on behalf of Epaminondas and Maria Korakides. In the closing speech of the ceremony, the Rector of the University, Professor Pantelis Sklias, highlighted the progress and the distinctions that the University has achieved through the offered curricula during the year and the pillars on which the University will be based for the achievement of strategic goals of accessible excellence, academic excellence, and social sensitivity. Research and the production of new knowledge, the connection with the labor market, new innovative programmes, social and corporate responsibility, are the main priorities in which the University will continue to invest.
