An online discussion forum on “Impacts and New Trends on Tourism due to pandemic conditions” was held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 with the coordination of the Liaison Office of Neapolis University Pafos and the Greek company KSM Human Resources with the cooperation of the Neapolis University Pafos’ Postgraduate Program MBA in Tourism.
During the discussion, Mr. Nikos Zamboulakis, Chief Financial Officer, and Ms. Veta Papanikolaou, HR Consultant in KSM Human Resources emphasized the importance of the tourism sector in Greece as well as the changes and impact of the pandemic in the tourism industry and its human resources.
The Lecturer in Tourism Law in the School of Economics, Business and Computer Science and Coordinator of the MBA in Tourism in the Neapolis University Pafos, Dr. Kardoulia Evanthia, cited the new trends in tourism, which prevail after the pandemic and the change of the tourist model, from “mass tourism” to “slow tourism”.
Mr. Daraklitsas Sotiris, Finance Manager at Attikos Ouranos Hotel Enterprises, highlighted the existing differences regarding the confrontation of the economic crisis in 2010 by the hotel units in Greece and the current situation in 2020-2021.
Finally, Mr. Giannos Pantazis, Group General Manager of Leptos Calypso Hotels and Vesta Tourist of the Leptos Group, expressed the concerns, but also the challenges and uncertainties that arose in the tourism sector due to the COVID-19 pandemic and he mentioned the ways to deal with this situation in Cyprus.
