“Strategic Security Foresight” Course, from February 4 to 6, 2025
At the Neapolis University Pafos in the City of Pafos, Cyprus
Neapolis University Pafos and its Department of History, Politics and International Studies, a full member of the European Security and Defence College, in cooperation with the Security and Defence Academy of the Ministry of Defence, under the auspices of the European Security and Defence College, completed the course “Strategic Security Foresight”, from February 4 to 6, 2025 at the Neapolis University in Pafos.
The course was attended by 27 participants from 6 EU countries (Belgium, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Hungary, Greece among others) and EU institutions, with key speakers of high-level specialty at important policy and decision-making levels.
The course aimed to enhance participants’ skills and competencies, empowering them to meet both current and future ambitions of the CSDP and CSFP. To foresight is to excel in a volatile and yet rapidly changing environment. The program focused on defining key dimensions, processes, and levels of collaboration, participation, and decision-making. Additionally, it emphasized leadership development and the application of critical thinking skills essential for both present and future challenges.
The opening ceremony was led by the Rector, Professor of Neapolis University, Pantelis Sklias. Keynote speeches were followed by the Chief Scientist for Research, Innovation and Technology of the Republic of Cyprus Mr.Demetris Skourides and the CEO of Invest Cyprus Mr. Marios Tannousis. The program was coordinated by Dr. Marios P. Efthymiopoulos, Associate Professor of International Security and Strategic Studies and Head of Department, Colonel Symeon Zambas, the Director of the Security and Defence Academy of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Cyprus and the European Security Defence College Training Manager Dr. Jugoslav Jozic.
